| Abstract
In this paper, nano-cement with different amounts of iron oxide nano-particles (2, 4, and 8 wt%) is synthesized based on sol-gel method utilizing tetraethyl ammonium ortho-silicate as the complex legend and molecular structure of the synthesized nano-cement are investigated. For this purpose, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is used. Obtained results show that the order and orientation in molecular structure of nano-cement indicated stronger bonds in the silicate network and more ordered arrangement in the presence of nano-particle. The obtained results also show a distribution of the Qn units centered Q1 and Q2 units for Portland cement and Q2 and Q3 units for synthesized nano-cements. Also, formation of three-membered silicate rings is also observed in samples containing higher amounts of iron oxide nano-particle (i.e. 4 and 8 wt%). |
